The shipbuilding and aerospace industry have the need to roll long plates (generally between 10and 16 meters) to optained open shapes to be assembled together for the structures of aeroplanes and ships. The RP/S is the most advanced machine available on the market to have a precisecontrol of the rolls cambering, necessary to guarantee top rolling precision.
High tonnage is available from the two main ram mounted on the uprights. The overdimensioned hydraulic cylinders make it possible to bend with high accuracy even the harder plates.
The Oversized structure to minimise frame deformation under maximum loads is designed using F.E.M. technicques. The assembly is in four main parts: base, traverse, left and rigth upright groups.
The rolls are all supported with back up rolls. The back up rolls position is Hydraulically Adjustable to give the desired camber to the bending (convex/concave).
Prebending of plate edges is possible by moving the lower rolls orizonthally below the top roll so that the distance between the rolls centers can be minimised to obtain the shortest possible flat ends. For heavier plates rolling the bottom roll can be hydraulically positioned in the center axis High Torque for plate rolling is provided by Hydromotors+Planetary Gearboxes directly mounted on the rolls shafts. The rolling power is distributed between the rolls in order to optimise the traction during the forming process. Accurate beam positioning and back-up rolls camber is guaranteed by the electronic control synchronisation system (EPS system) with a tolerance of 0,2 mm. A constant feedback control of each bending axis values trough the all rolling cycle make it possible to obtain the superior quality of the rolled product without the need of rerolling/calibrating.
